The Brewing and Malting Barley Research Institute (BMBRI) is pleased to welcome its newest member, Sierra Nevada Brewing Company, Inc. Sierra Nevada joined the BMBRI in January 2007. The company is located in Chico, California, at the base of the Sierra Nevada and Cascade Mountain Ranges. It was established in 1979 by founder and owner Ken Grossman, originally a home brewer. He set up the first facility using secondhand equipment and, by using premium ingredients, developed a world class brand of beer. The company has continued to grow ever since. After multiple expansions of the original brewery, a new brewery was built in 1989 to fill the ever growing demand for their products. This facility has also been expanded, and now includes an on-site restaurant and entertainment facility in addition to impressive brewing and technical facilities. Sierra Nevada is also a proud steward of the environment, adopting many conservation and recycling techniques. Today, Sierra Nevada brews four classic beers: Pale Ale, Porter, Wheat Beer and Stout, along with three seasonal brands: Summerfest, Big Foot and Celebration Ale. More information about the company and products can be found on their web site at: http://www.sierranevada.com/
