The Canadian Barley Research Coalition (CBRC), in a funding partnership with the Brewing and Malting Barley Research Institute (BMBRI), have committed $1.5 million over seven years to launch the Grant for Research Optimization for Western (GROW) Canadian Barley Agronomy Program.

Dr. Hiroshi Kubota, a research scientist with Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada, was selected as the successful applicant to lead the GROW Barley program. GROW Barley will support barley agronomic research in western Canada and ensure new barley varieties maximize their potential.

“The long-term commitment of funding is unique and will yield significant results. We look forward to working with our partners on this important research initiative” says Gina Feist, Executive Director of BMBRI.
