BMBRI Research Funding for 2025-26

The Brewing and Malting Barley Research Institute (BMBRI) approved research funding of up to $169,739 for 2025-26. BMBRI’s investment in research will help to ensure malting barley remains a competitive cropping option for farmers and delivers high quality grain to the end user.

In 2025-26, BMBRI research funding will continue to support eight Barley Cluster projects directed to measuring and reducing greenhouse gas emissions from barley production and processing, barley variety development, barley disease surveillance and germplasm development. New projects selected to start this year include research on barley 4R management practices, evaluation of nitrogen stabilizer products, optimizing hulless barley processing conditions and research on reducing the incidence of barley lodging.  Further details are available by contacting BMBRI.
